Project: Floating Cinema at the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool

Using modular floating pontoons for events adds something unique and new. In the past at NP Events we have undertaken several different projects across the UK, including the design and installation of a floating cinema in Liverpool. Situated at the UNESCO World Heritage site the Royal Albert Dock, the cinema was in place for a week during August 2019.

What and Where

In the summer of 2019 a floating cinema was set up and installed at the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool for the very first time. The Dock Pop-Up Floating Cinema showed a range of Hollywood classics in a unique setting for visitors.

The Royal Albert Dock has a rich history and it’s a stunning place to enjoy a relaxing evening with friends or family. Overall the event ran from August 2 to 10 and sold out its screenings.

Our Work

We arrived in Liverpool to start the process of bringing the floating cinema to life. This included the careful installation of floating modular pontoons, providing a rigorous surface for people to access and watch the screenings.

Alongside this, we also ensured that the pontoon was easy and safe to access from the land adjoining. Once completed, the pontoon was decorated with fairy lights, beanbags, deckchairs, and blankets.
